Rehab Physical Science Building

This project was the $28 million single prime Rehabilitation of the Physical Science Building at SUNY Oneonta. Work began at the Science building in July 2014 and was completed 2016. The project was a complete gut of 56300 sq ft in the main portion of the building and demolition of an addition. The 56300 sq ft main building was completely renovated and a 16200 sq ft two story addition were added. Key features of this building include many teaching labs, classrooms, offices and specialized equipment rooms. The teaching labs consist of a variety of fume hoods, chemical storage cabinets, nitrogen, gas and compressed air connections and other components for science experiments.

The project had a very large mechanical and plumbing scope, including installing 4 new large air handling units, over 200 VAV’s, chilled beams, fin tube radiation heating, radiant heat panels, an extensive RO/DI system, acid waste throughout the building, gas services to every lab, and a new cooling tower. Exterior improvements include restoration of the existing brick façade, a new brick façade on the addition, new sidewalks, new light poles and bases, metal wall panels throughout the new addition and existing building and repaving existing parking lots. This project is pursuing LEED Silver.
