Project Overview:
Fahs Construction Group served as General Contractor for the reconstruction of high-traffic campus walkways and plaza areas, modernizing pedestrian infrastructure, stormwater systems, emergency access, lighting, and public space while maintaining continuous campus operations.
Self-Performed Scope
Fahs executed key civil and site trades in-house, improving schedule control, quality, and cost certainty in a live campus environment:
-
Concrete seat walls and structural concrete
-
Sitework, grading, cuts/fills, and subbase preparation
-
Drainage systems, storm piping, and structures
-
Demolition and removals
-
Asphalt paving
-
Maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT)
Self-perform execution reduced subcontractor handoffs, accelerated sequencing, and enabled rapid field decision-making.
Key Challenges & Solutions:
Work was performed in an active, high-density campus environment that required uninterrupted pedestrian circulation and continuous emergency access. Fahs implemented a carefully managed 10-phase construction sequence adjacent to critical academic facilities to minimize disruption to students, faculty, and operations. The team also addressed complex stormwater, grading, and plaza deck drainage constraints to ensure long-term performance, surface stability, and reliable water management.
