Owner: Alfred Barbagallo
Architect: Craig Polhamus
Location: East Syracuse, NY
Completion Date: June 2016

Barbagallo’s Sleep Inn Hotel is a 34,192 square foot, three story hotel, comprised of fifty-four rooms that include three bridal suites, a workout facility, three guest laundry rooms, and a full breakfast lounge. The hotel is connected to Barbagallo’s Tavern, Restaurant and Banquet Hall.
The design of the hotel was modified from Choice Hotels’ standard design to facilitate the bridging of the hotel to the current banquet/restaurant structure and to incorporate three bridal suites, each with their own corner whirlpool tub. This made for a unique hotel, unlike any other in the Choice Hotels’ brand. Construction of the wood-framed, three story building began in July of 2015 and continued through its completion in June of 2016. The exterior construction was a mix of masonry and EIFS with fixed aluminum windows and storefronts throughout. The interior embodies gypsum walls, painted over a textured sand and stipple finish, while the flooring is a combination of porcelain floor tiles and carpeting. Each floor can be accessed by a set of stairs at each end of the hotel, or via the Kone elevator located in the center of the hotel. Entry to each room and to all exterior doors is through a key card system, supplied by Kaba.
There is central heating and cooling throughout the hotel and each room has its own PTAC unit with wall-mounted temperature controls. The hotel also has a food prep area and a large breakfast lounge where food is served every morning.
