| Description: | Rehabilitate three (3) bridges on I-81 in the Boroughs of Moosic and Pittston. The reinforced concrete bridge deck, ½ section concrete barriers and reinforced concrete approach slabs were removed and replaced on each of the structures. The existing steel beams were retrofitted with steel plates to extend the tension areas, and intermediate and end diaphragms were selectively replaced. The beam seats, bearings and backwalls were also removed and replaced. Two (2) temporary bridges carrying two travel lanes in one direction served to minimize disruptions to those using this heavily traveled corridor between the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre areas of Pennsylvania.
